We celebrated our marketing and projects officer – Jules Tarrant’s – birthday in the office. A stunning bunch of flowers in her favourite colour blue and a Mexican lunch. Life’s tough at Canberra Furnished Accommodation – not!

How do you celebrate office birthdays?

Max with green legs!

Young Max – the Canberra Furnished Accommodation office dog – was rocking some green legs after running through the freshly mowed grass at the Zirconia complex in Braddon. Max is determined to bring back the ‘leg warmer’ look from the 80’s. Do you think he can?

The Game of Gnomes

Thank you to all of you who have asked us how our gnome entry went at Floriade. Well… we tied for first place! Actually… there were only two entries in the corporate category so they chose not to award a winner, but we can use poetic license to tie in first place 🙂

Here are our Canberra Furnished gnome-couple. Aren’t they just gorgeous?

Instead of using a wet cloth to clean out those pesky crumbs that accumulate in the kitchen drawers and cupboards, grab the vacuum cleaner first. You can have a debris free surface to wet wipe without having to ‘catch’ the crumbs in your cloth.

At Canberra Furnished Accommodation our housekeeping team have lots of hints and tips to share. It’s  a challenge to keep things to the highest standards of cleanliness in quick turn around times – but we do it. Do you have any hints to share?

We are putting our finishing touches on our Corporate Gnome entry for Floriade. Can we ask for your help? So far the fun taglines are:

Canberra Furnished Accommodation – Your gnome away from gnome

and:

Canberra Furnished Accommodation – A great place for gnomads.

What do you think?

Any other clever ideas out there?

If you are headed out to Floriade this weekend, keep a look out for our entry!

Seeing the sites of Canberra

canberra paint

We Canberran’s were just treated to a long weekend and the Canberra Furnished Accommodation team spent it exploring the sites and sounds of our home town. A quick poll around the office found 80% of us enjoying Floriade. Between us we also explored the National Arboretum, went indoor rock climbing, spent time in our own gardens, walked around Lake Burley Griffin, and spent time browsing the many wonderful shopping spaces in our nation’s capital. Come and join us… there is plenty to do!

Nice job Laurie!

When we work really hard to be our best, it is always nice to get a word of praise. Thank you so much to Kris Prokopowicz who sent us the following message: “Laurie, your attitude and your drive have taken you where you are and it is so very inspiring to see you grow and achieve the unachievable. WELL DONE!”
Thanks so much Kris  🙂

thumbs up

A well oiled machine…

The Canberra Furnished Accommodation team is going flat strap overhauling every system we have to make it as customer service friendly and efficient as possible. Even though the office, customer service and housekeeping areas already have systems which would make most SME’s green with envy, our focus on excellence keeps us working hard for constant improvement.

So why isn’t Laurie McDonald satisfied with a business which has already received multiple awards? Why not ‘set and forget’? Great question!

The McDonald family have a strong connection to elements of Japanese culture – in fact Japan is their ‘home away from home’. Laurie has introduced the Japanese concept of Kaizen to Canberra Furnished Accommodation. In fact it is one of our six core values. Kaizen means ‘good change’ and is translated in English to mean the philosophy of constant improvement. Next time we get to interact with you, remember kaizen and think of our team doing our very best to make your home away from home experience second to none.
