Team Charity Effort

Posted on 12 May 2011 | No Comments

It was a very cold Canberra morning and we had to tuck our hands in our pockets to stop our fingers going numb as we walked the few kilometres from our meeting point to the starting line.

The event was the 2011 ACT Mothers Day Classic walk and the Canberra Furnished Accommodation team raised over $2,000.00 in support of Breast Cancer Research.  Thank you so very much to all those who supported and sponsored us.

We completed the walk in 54 minutes and with our families there to cheer us on we finished in style by jogging to the finish line.

mdc-resultsOur team was 3rd out of all the Canberra teams (see image), we are so proud of this effort because the teams in 1st and 2nd position were much larger than our little trio.

A few more photos of our team on the day are below.

Braddon Restaurants + More Article

Posted on 19 Apr 2011 | No Comments

A link to an article is below, it’s all about the suburb of Braddon.  Reading about all the fantastic restaurants made me hungry :)

http://www.hercanberra.com.au/index.php/2011/02/10/braddon/

I came across this fantastic article on a website called Her Canberra, an online magazine I just discovered for Canberra women … and

written by Canberra women.  This would be an ideal resource for women moving here or coming to stay for a while and I’m excited to have found it for you.

Hope you enjoy the article as much as I did.

Our Canberra Recommendations

Our Canberra Recommendations

See The Autumn Leaves in Canberra. A friend of ours is a highly accomplished Arborist who travels around Australia for his work. He bought to our attention that Canberra has the most colourful Autumn trees in the country because of our weather. We got to thinking that this is not something that is promoted enough in Canberra.

If you are going to be here during the Autumn months, we would highly recommend that you take a walk around Lake Burley Griffin, the southern side of the foreshore in the main basin is a beautiful display of colour.

For more information and what’s on in Canberra – see our Events In Canberra  page on our website

Home Care and Organisation Tip

Home Care and Organisation Tip

If your kettle is looking a little worse for wear on the inside but is trustworthy and has plenty of life left in it, rather than throwing it out, fill it with equal quantities of, water and white vinegar and bring to the boil.

You will be amazed at your gleaming new kettle and with no elbow grease spared.

Got People Coming For Christmas?

Posted on 9 Nov 2010 | No Comments

It’s time to start thinking about Christmas accommodation for visitors.  Did you know that Canberra Furnished Accommodation are the perfect Christmas accommodation choice for family and friends coming to Canberra?

Whilst the message is tongue in cheek, there is a lot to be said for being able to part company at the end of the days festivities and unwind in your own space, this goes for the host who just wants their house back, and also the visitors who can really enjoy having their own space to retreat to at the end of a long day.

3 reasons to consider us
1.  A Comfortable Bed
… I guarantee our beds are more comfortable than your sofa, sofa bed or mattress on the floor

2.  Bathroom Matters
… no queuing for the bathroom/shower

3.  Sleep, Glorious Sleep!
… there is nothing worse than sleeping in the loungeroom and having your sleeping habits on display, or worse still, being kept awake by Uncle Eddy’s snoring when you have a busy day of food preparation and need your sleep.

So if you have plans to host your family for Christmas this year, consider recommending Canberra Furnished Accommodation to them for their accommodation while they are here.

Special Offer
Mention this Blog to Briony when you call and we will include a Christmas Tree and Decorations so the apartment occupants can still wake up to Christmas Cheer!

Canberra Furnished Accommodation CEO Sleepout

Posted on 18 Jun 2010 | No Comments

Last night our Director, Laurie McDonald, braved the cold to participate in the St Vincent De Paul CEO Sleepout.

Laurie raised $1,010 to support programs that assist homeless people in Canberra and the surrounding region.

Laurie says “What was very clear was that I wouldn’t survive very long as a homeless person.  By the morning I was so tired and cold that I physically felt sick and couldn’t wait to get home to my own bed.”

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this worthy cause.  Further donations are more than welcome, St Vincent De Paul have raised almost $2.5 million dollars as of this morning.  Click here for further information http://www.ceosleepout.org.au/location/ceoprofile.php?ceo=741

Laurie wasn’t alone, other local CEO’s who are friends of Canberra Furnished Accommodation included …

Government Placements, Corporate Contracts, Defence Postings

Posted on 22 Dec 2009 | No Comments

Don’t leave it too late !

Apartment 10If your coming to Canberra for work next year I want to encourage you to make your accommodation arrangements now.

The general habit is to relax into the Christmas and New Year break and start getting organised the first week of January.  My experience is that by the second week of January all the great accommodation has been taken and the late organisers are left with very slim pickings indeed.  I have spoken to people in February who have spent 3-4 weeks living in hotels at nightly rates!

Canberra locals know that if you want to move house, December is the best month for it and January is the worst!  This is because the transient members of our community all go home in December giving up their rental properties, then a new wave of Corporate, Government and Defence employees enter in January.

The point of this blog?  To advise our incoming community members to start looking now.

Canberra Furnished Accommodation only have 3-4 executive properties left for late January medium-term bookings and no budget properties available until mid-February.  Call us, email us or book online so you don’t get left in the lurch.
