When I was looking for a place to stay in Canberra I searched for quality, value for money, cleanliness and a great location. McDonalds Units exceeded all these expectations but also provided a friendly atmosphere and safe environment. The owners were accommodating and willing to lend their knowledge of the local area. McDonalds Units really did become a home away from home for me – I could not have chosen a better place to stay!

Having lived in the McDonald's apartment for three months I found the accommodation to be more than suitable with all the amenities I required.  I found the Owner/Operator, Laurie McDonald, to be very friendly to deal with and she understands how frustrating it can be for a military member to be separated from their family for service requirements.  To that end she endeavours to make your stay as comfortable as possible.   I appreciated the fact that the units were so close to both Kingston and Manuka.  A bonus if you want to experience the night life of just have a quiet Sunday brunch.   I would recommend a stay at the McDonald units if you get the chance and have the requirement.

As the result of a recent transfer from Perth to Canberra, I had the opportunity to spend several weeks in the McDonald units.  From the time of my arrival until my departure I found the McDonalds most courteous and helpful.  The unit was absolutely spotless and well presented with everything needed to be completely self contained.  It was quiet and secure though handy to transport, shops, entertainment etc.  Should the need arise, I would not hesitate to again stay in the McDonald units. I wish them well in this endeavor as they offer a quality service.

'Laurie ... the property has everything that is required for a single person living on their own. The Accommodation is extremely comfortable and your professional and outgoing personality make it all worth while. There is never a problem just solutions to tenants requests, I would like to sincerely thank you and your husband for making my stay at McMillan apartments both enjoyable and comfortable ...,'

' ...  I would like to recommend Laurie and Mathew McDonald on their hospitality and their units are value for rental market price so close to the city.  I have recommended McDonalds Units to lots of people due to the professional manner in which the selection process, initial e-mail/telephone contact and follow up e-mails are conducted by the McDonalds.  This enabled a smooth transition into my preferred Canberra location and ensured a personal touch that is lacking with some rental agents.
There is usually some aspect of rental accommodation that causes dissatisfaction, but the only bad thing about McDonalds Units was having to depart on the last day. Do yourself a favour - Go and experience it for yourself.

'... I stayed with McDonald Units at Unit 4/47 McMillan Cres Griffith for a period of approximately seven months (Jan – July 2006) whilst I was living in the Canberra area with the Royal Australian Navy.  The Service that the McDonalds supplied to me was second to none, any requests that I had were taken care of quickly and in the time I stayed there I never had a complaint.  The unit that I stayed in was the newest fully furnished unit they had at the time and had been renovated quite nicely, and was well equipped.  The McDonalds motto of being “Your home away from home” was quite correct and I didn’t need anything to move in, which was really great, no need to worry about furniture or anything.  The McDonalds made everything easy for the tenant; payment was done over the net which meant no difficulties in making rent payments.  The unit was located in a great locality in the Canberra region ...'  |
'This was also great for me as it meant I was only five Kilometres from work, five minutes walk from the Fyshwick Fruit Markets where I could get all of my fruit and vegetables and then I was only ten minutes walk to the heart of Kingston.  Living in the unit I was in meant I really didn’t need to drive anywhere.'
'Life for me in Canberra was definitely made a lot better by living in a “McDonalds Units” unit.''

I stayed at McMillan Gardens for approximately 11 months when I first moved to Canberra. I was able to move in very quickly which was a lifesaver as my previous accommodation had fallen through at the last minute and I would have been without a home if not for Laurie and Matt!  My unit was very comfortable and clean, and had all the necessary utensils, appliances and facilities along with modern furnishings. Laurie and Matt were always willing to help out if I needed something extra and were always working to improve the units and the complex as a whole.
The units are in a great location, close to local shops and public transport, as well as to Manuka, Kingston and the city. They are very reasonably priced in comparison to other fully-furnished accommodation and I would definitely recommend McDonald's Units to anyone who was looking for a place to stay.
